Photographic Safaris in the Masai Mara, Kenya
Following the success of my 2019 photographic safaris to the Masai Mara region of Kenya, Africa, I will once again be guiding week-long safari tours. Bookings are now being taken for November 2020, very limited availability.
The Masai Mara is one of the most iconic wildlife viewing places on Earth, and for good reason. Stunning landscape, over 1000 bird species and a diverse range of large mammals, including the famed big cats. I have visited The Mara every year for almost 20 years and would like to share this spectacular jewel with you.
Join me on a photographic safari in the Masai Mara
Every visit to the Masai Mara offers incredible opportunity and you never know what delights this magical place will offer up. I’ve been to the Mara every year for two decades. I have planned these guided safaris in this location, so I can best share my extensive photography and location knowledge with you.
I know how to enjoy the Mara, I know how to get results. Some photographic locations require you to just be there - the Mara is different. It is large, diverse and the minute by minute decisions on where to go and when to stop will be taken based on my field experience. It is as important to me that your photography grows, that you take great images, as it is that you have a great experience among the wildlife. You can see my EIGHT FEET and WILDLIFE collections, which were predominantly shot on location in the Mara.
If you have specific photography questions or challenges I will be on hand to help. If it means helping unpick your camera manual or assist with editing… then that is what I do.
Who are my safaris for?
This is an authentic safari. It is an experience for anyone who enjoys wildlife and nature and hopes to practice and improve their photography skills.
There are no pre-requisites, your enthusiasm and energy are all that is needed. Whether you use a point and shoot or big lenses, are a first timer on safari or are experienced, this is suitable for you. Together, we’ll seek out the often-elusive animals and, whether you’re an amateur or aspiring professional, you’ll get the chance to practice and improve your wildlife photography skills.
High touch.
My photographic safaris are for a maximum of 3 clients. This is not a ‘touristy experience’, instead, this is the way I shoot when I am on my personal assignments. I enjoy seeing other photographers grow, this is my way to help your photographic journey, and all set in a fabulous location.
We will have a lot of time together and I will not hold back in sharing with you my thought processes, insights and knowledge. I will act as your guide and photography coach, helping you to capture a portfolio of wildlife images that you will be proud of.
A custom experience.
The camp, local guides and vehicles have all been handpicked by me to ensure we have the best experience possible. Situated in the heart of the action we make the most of dawn and dusk when the cats and wildlife are most active.
Experienced guides make so much difference, and after working with the same team for almost two decades I can vouch that we have the right team for the best trip possible. Organising these trips for ‘low season’ is because I believe this time of year to the absolute best for game viewing and photography. I’ve carefully planned everything so you don’t have to.
Client testimonials
“My photographic safari with Graeme was a 5 out of 5 experience! I would recommend this trip with Graeme to any photographer, no matter your level of skill and understanding of photography.
Graeme’s extensive experience in the Mara really enhanced his vast knowledge and familiarity with the geography and animals. His technical knowledge of our cameras was second to none, and he is a great teacher – patient but pushes you when you need it. As a photographer, I grew an incredible amount.
The Masai Mara is truly the ‘Jewel of Africa’. It has stunning wildlife, landscapes and weather and getting up before sunrise was a joy. The authentic tented campsite was a definite plus, with tents along the river teeming with hippos, fantastic food and friendly, accommodating staff making you feel at home immediately. The place blew me away! ”

“I had a very enjoyable time in the Mara with Graeme. The camp setup was very laid back and we were very well looked after given the long days we spent searching (and finding!) some really unique situations to take photos.
I picked up a whole lot of tips and tricks to make the most of my camera and also in terms of good shot composition, getting away from the closely cropped shot. At the end of each day we also did some Lightroom edits to make the most of the many great shots we’d managed to take each day. Highly recommended!”

“When we arrived in Kenya, Graeme said that since you’ve invested in coming here, I’m going to invest my time in you, and he really did! He spent time assessing our abilities and worked closely with us on all aspects of taking the shots, from composition, teaching us technical skills through to the editing of our images.
We saw so many beautiful animals and were often the only car around so could easily manoeuvre to get the best shots. It was a mind-blowing experience and so much fun too! I’m really proud of some of my photos, and they help me relive those wonderful memories. I can’t wait to go again!”
