Monarch Butterfly Collection

In a slight departure from my usual black and white images I am very pleased to share my collection of Monarch Butterflies. A truly epic story, best seen in the highlands of Mexico the monarchs winter there in there millions in a extraordinary high densities. Then every March they fly off North, some reaching Canada and northern US states, returning at the end of the year to again winter. This incredible 2500 mile annual migration is so incredible in many ways, no least because it take 3-5 generations of butterfly to complete the annual cycle. How they return to the very same trees that they inhabited many generations before is just one aspect of what is surely the greatest migration on earth

Film Expression

There is something very special about the aesthetic of camera film. My mission is to go further than most in creating images that are unique. By shooting on film it pushes my artistic craft to an extreme - driven by a desire for pure analogue authenticity. The colours, effects and compositions are created in camera, in the field and in front of the wildlife. The ultimate challenge for any artist.
